There are characters on this show that engage me in a way that many shows do NOT. The center of it all being Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen, and the story of a spoiled rich boy being chewed up, spit out, and clawing his way into greatness. Here we are closing in on the halfway point of Season 5 – and I think I’m well and truly mad.
Again. On the weekends, I love the fact that I get to use one of my beloved over-sized coffee mugs to drink my coffee rather than the Contigo thermos(es) that I use when travelling to work, etc. Today is a lovely mug from The Madonna Inn and I’ve already had to stick it back into the microwave 3 times. I’m not entirely sure of TV this year and I’m changing my bad health patterns. But let’s talk TV first!!! Continue reading “Walking, Weight Watchers, and The Walking Dead”
So after taking a few days off, I got back to my walks tonight. I am happy to report that I did not experience any shin/tendon pain today. I did start off slowly, and kept my walk relatively short (2.32 miles) AND I did some stretches for a few minutes prior. Seems to have made all the difference in the world. Thank goodness! The rain did arrive today and may still be here tomorrow; so we’ll see if I get a walk in tomorrow morning.
That was today’s photo. I’m not sure why my fitbit share decided to rotate the image, but I’ll deal with it. I actually think it’s due to the fact that I took the image at a 4:3 ratio rather than 16:9. Anyway, during today’s walk I listened to a podcast instead of music. Today’s choice was “Sorry not Sorry w/Jenna Kim Jones”. It’s a lovely sweet profanity free podcast by Jenna Kim Jones and her husband Allan Moss. I discovered Jenna via Alison Rosen’s podcast, “Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend” – which is one of my very favorite podcasts. Anyway, look up Jenna Kim Jones here.
I spent a little bit of time culling through some of MyFitnessPal’s forum today just to get some insight and inspiration. I want to make sure that I have the right caloric intake for tracking. It does strike me as a little odd that I can have the same weight loss goal at both MyFitnessPal and Fitbit – with the same stats listed – and yet they will have different caloric intakes listed. I do have to force myself to be as honest as possible when tracking foods and lately I’ve started weighing/measuring portions again. It really is the only way to be as close to accurate as possible. Never fear there is NO chance of my starving myself here; I simply like food too much. I’m take great care to eat better in general (mostly limit the eating out and bringing snacks/desserts into the house) and make sure I’m getting enough calories to fuel the walks. But I also am tracking. I NEED to lose as well as get healthier and fitter.
I wrote a bulleted post today over at my Tumblr page about this weeks “Arrow”, “Flash”, and “Legends of Tomorrow”. The link may still be showing up in my Tumblr RSS feed to the right, but it’s also (here) “CW TV Round Up May 6th”.
I have the urge to post/blog all of the time. And yet I find that I wonder if I should head here to WordPress and try to beat that old horse. Or go to my Tumblr page and blog – but really what I do mostly there is talk about Arrow, and sometimes some other shows. I’m not sure if Tumblr is the place to get “real” or too personal. Seems folks want to get their hits of tv show memes and gifs and then move on. Maybe that makes it the perfect place to get personal and “real” then, as folks are moving to fast to really stop and stare? Who the hell knows. Is that what I want? To be out there but never been seen? Why have any blog in the first place? How will it serve? Will it improve my or anyone’s day or life? What is it I want to say anyway? Why have more than one blog? Is it better to consolidate the places on the internet we have?
The struggle is real.
The hike that killed me
What a weekend. After going on an uphill (yes both ways) hike that really did have a lot of flat ground to cover on Saturday, I’ve been relatively in a “lightly-destroyed” mode. (Or more aptly in my impression of a crone mode) Meaning I cannot move with any grace at all, and I haven’t slept much. This morning I find myself home from work feeling like crap, sore, and yet oddly bubbly over things I watched. My brain – it’s a blessing. And a curse. (Thank you, “Monk”, for that ever so useful quote).
Things I watched….
- The entire Samsung MWC 2016 presentation on YouTube (not live)
- Downton Abbey S6.E8 (finale before the LAST episode ever – Christmas)
- The Walking Dead S6.E10 “The Next World”
- The Talking Dead S5.E10 (w/Nathan Fillion & ah….BIG romance reaction)
First weekend of February and despite the fact that the skies have opened up and El Nino has poured all over us for a month – it’s close to 70 degrees in my neck of the woods. I suppose with so many folks in “town” for the Super Bowl it is a good thing..? Yes, yes, of course it is. With the freeways and streets flooded with so many more people, the lack of rain can only mean good things. In theory.
January marked the return of my eating better (and tracking the damned calories), Continue reading “February Frolicking & Fandom”
