My coffee is cold…

Standard

Again. On the weekends, I love the fact that I get to use one of my beloved over-sized coffee mugs to drink my coffee  rather than the Contigo thermos(es) that I use when travelling to work, etc. Today is a lovely mug from The Madonna Inn and I’ve already had to stick it back into the microwave 3 times. But I like to sit…sometimes!

How many hard boiled eggs can YOU eat?

Standard

The answer is (2) every single damned day. Every. Single Damned. Day. (Weight Watchers = 2 pts each) Thankfully I don’t get sick of routine repetitive meals. It is what is helping me to stay on track with losing weight – as well as keep my budget in check. And the eggs are good protein that tide me over every morning at work until lunch. THEN I really pack in the protein! 🙂

So yesterday was my Week 2 Completion/Weigh In day Continue reading

Six Reasons Why Walking Is The Daily Brain Medicine We Really Need

Standard

I love this reason:

1. Walking boosts your mood even when you’re not expecting it. In a recent study, researchers conducted three experiments on hundreds of college students to find out if they’d experience a positive mood boost while walking, without knowing that walking could be the reason. The researchers disguised each experiment as an alleged test of something else, all the while tracking mood changes linked to the simple act of taking a stroll. They found that just 12 minutes of walking resulted in an increase in joviality, vigor, attentiveness and self-assurance versus the same time spent sitting.

Team Cap all the way

Standard

I didn’t go see “Captain America: Civil War” opening weekend as crowds aren’t my favorite – and I did have some other obligations. But I went last night. I was nervous about how they were going to deal with the idea of “registering” people with powers (as we’ve seen in the ABC TV Show, “Marvel: Agents of Shield” (which does run in some fashion as a companion to the Marvel films). The film focuses more on The Avengers; than “inhumans” or people with powers – specifically. The idea is that the United Nations wants to control The Avengers – determining when/if they are needed and calling the shots. The United Nations wants to bring them to heel; they are simply too powerful without a leash.

IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE AND DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED, STOP READING. I AM GOING TO BE TALKING DETAILS HERE.

Everybody’s walking for the weekend…

Standard

I did get in some great walks this week (AND this morning too). I didn’t mean to skip the posting this week, but there is a lot going on – so I was just busier than normal. Anyway, my hope is there may be 1 or 2 people that may read this and be inspired by another older/heavier person enjoying walking and looking to be healthier as we get older (and NOT heavier!). This post is for YOU!
